Belgian-born Pamela Peeters, producer and host of the feel-good TV show "Our Planet," has been bringing Sustainable Development to the mainstream since 2001.

In 2005, she is invited to the launch of the UNESCO Decade for Sustainable Development which took place at the United Nations headquarters. During the first meeting she makes a positive contribution and is asked to join the Marketing team of the US partnerships. She accepts this honor and launches the Sustainable Planet Film Festival later on that year. The festival is born and the purpose is to show how people worldwide are shaping a new paradigm called "Sustainable Development".

BELGIUM : Antwerp, Havenhuis: Pamela designs a full length film festival inclusive of an expert panel which she also moderates. She launches a petition that seeks to create a new Nobel Prize for Sustainable Development...the first signatures are generated.

USA : Manhattan, Lincoln Center, Sustainable Planet is featured in the exclusive Walter Read Theater. Panelists include Bruce Brandfon from Scientific American, several producers and Tony Award winning playwright Mario Fratti. She invites several students from the High School for Environmental Studies to make a video clip about the green aspects of their school. The leader of the new video group is invited to talk about the experience and comment on the adult documentaries. After graduating form High School, she moved on to study the art of documentary making. A very well attended VIP cocktail party closes the night.


USA : Manhattan, Chelsea Art Museum: The idea comes to mind to develop the festival into an experience where attendees are invited to become a player in the creation of the green and social economy. If we want to create a more sustainable society, then we need to change the way we produce, consume and live. The festival is brought to the Chelsea Art Museum during an art exhibition called "Nature Interrupted" curated by Elga Wimmer. More expert panels are programmed and Live music performed by Mark Rapp spices everything up.

Jordan : Amman, Wild Jordan. Sustainable Planet goes to the Middle East! The location is a beautiful ECO house called WILD JORDAN. The panel members are exquisite and the audience wants more of Sustainable Planet. The Sustainable Planet film festival is featured in the Jordanian Times.


USA : Manhattan, Hilton Hotel, Go Green Expo. Pamela meets with Bradford Rand, the founder of the Go Green Expo. He asks her to design a special Sustainable Planet film festival edition so that the attendees of the expo have some intelligent entertainment. Councilman James Gennaro ( Queens ) is attending.

USA : Manhattan, Chelsea Art Museum. The collaboration with the Chelsea Art Museum is extended and the Sustainable Steward Gala is launched. It is the Award Ceremony that celebrates pioneers who make a difference in the world of Sustainability. Eight categories apply: art, business, lifestyle, food, entertainment, eco tourism, personal development and sports. The first series of Awards go to Councilman James Gennaro (lifestyle), Amelia Amelia (eco furniture) and Eugenio Scannavino Neto (Health & Happiness project in the Amazon jungle). The film festival is a success, some people call the experience "life changing".


USA : Manhattan, Bohemian National Hall. The program is expanding with more speakers, great organic food tastings and another edition of the Sustainable Steward Gala. The former Mayor of Curitiba ( Brazil ) Dr Jaime Lerner opens the 4th edition. He is also the recipient of the Sustainable Steward Award in the Lifestyle category. Art Curator Elga Wimmer also received an Award.


The fifth edition focuses on Sustainable cities and the people who make it happen. Six films are on the program and a strong line up of speakers are presenting at a former carriage house which houses the Gabarron Foundation.

BAHRAIN : Manama ... just before the Arab spring hits the Middle East and some of the Northern African countries, a two day production takes place at the Ritz Carlton. HRH Princess Basma bint Ali from Jordan received the Sustainable Steward Award in the Lifestyle category. The Belgian documentary "Climate Chaos in the South" wins the audience vote.


The founder / producer of the Sustainable Planet film festival decides to create a new tv series Filming of the international Sustainable Planet TV series started in April. Susan and David Rockefeller, the VP of Oceana, actor Paul Blackthorne and Denise Rich are interviewed for the USA chapter.


The Sustainable Planet documentary project starts. Scenes are shot in KENYA and ECUADOR. The purpose is to present a popular ecological manifesto, including global Eco Heroes.


Expansion of the “Sustainable Planet Film Festival” to the "Sustainability Week” production, where consumers as well as the mainstream are invited to discover the possibilities and opportunities of the green and social economy. (Already in the USA and Belgium)
